Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
